- Why and when did you start building your own lures?
I started about 5 years ago because a good friend of mine was building his own bucktailspinners and caught a lot of pikes with it.
- What kind of lures do you build?
Bucktailspinners, spinnerbaits, spoons and occasionally streamers and crankbaits.
- Which lures do you prefer, and which catch the best?
I fished a lot with bucktailspinners the last few years. I always did well with them. Until I discovered "Wood".
The first throw I caught a nice pike. After releasing him I threw another time. And Bang, another pike.
Off course this doesn't happen every day. And when I'm not catching anything on the jerkbaits I switch to
spinners and spinnerbaits. And they do the trick nicely aswell.
- Which wood types do you use for your lures?
Mostly meranti, but oak, beech, mahogany and Broomsticks aswell. Mostly wood of old tables and chairs.
One woodtype is heavier then the other. The heavier woodtypes I use for deeper water and the somewhat lighter
woodtypes in the polders.
- Which primer do you use?
I always use primer from our local DYI store. I apply it on with a brush.
- How do you spray your color patterns: airbrush or spray can? Which brands?
With a spraycan. Brands; motip, belton, hema, karwei and trendycolor. Soon I'm going to buy my first airbrush.
- Which finish do you use?
Ruwa Yachtlaquer, in 3 layers.
- Which kind of lures do you want to build in the future?
Strange combinations, like jerkbaits with propellers and shadtails and stuff.
- In which kind of waters do you fish the most?
In the shallow polderswaters, small ditches that people walk by, because they think that there is no fish in it.
But often I catch a nice boy, or girl in it.
