Kind of single strand Wire

Always use stainless steel wire. Only stainless steel wire lends itself for the use we have for it. The steel wire will always be in contact with water. Now there happen to be a lot of brands and types for sale. And also with several degrees of hardness. Of course you can experiment with different kinds of steel wire in order to find out which one to use for a certain purpose. But if you don't have the time or the patience, just use steel wire of the brand Dentaurum with type marking Remanium and hardness Federhard (Springhard). This is the same stainless steel wire that dentists use. It's for sale at Moores Lures.
