Realistic Jerkbaits

For this I've caught some live roaches and fotographed them with my digital camera. Because I'm an graphic designer I have a lot of experience with photoshop. I've painted all my models with primer and photographed them and with photoshop I've created a printing stencil. These are in at 100% and in the right shape. I've printed it on a laserprinter on decall paper. This was not easy but I'm very satisfied with the endresult.

The decall paper is not cheap, a few euro's for one piece A4. You put the decall paper in water and then it comes loose from the carier (the toner from the laserprinter is waterresistant). Then you very carefully place the decall on the jerkbait.

Tip: don't force the decall paper from the carier. Let it come loose by itself. decal paper is the smae you find in modell building. Another tip, apply metallic effects before you put on the decall. And give the jerkbait one coat of laquer before you apply the decall. Make sure that you remove all the water underneath the decall. This goes easier if the surface underneath is nice and slick. After drying just apply more layers of laquer. Make sure the laquer does not react with the decall.

About the models; the "Deeproach" is a floating jerkbait that can be fished somewhat deeper because of the edges on top. The raoch imitation is slowsinking but because of the shape and the edges on the bottom it can be fished in the surface. If you let it sink a little you can fish it at half water aswell. Very realistic.

The "Rednose" is sinking aswell (made out of a broomstick) and very much the same. It rises and swings from left to right. Well, that's my story. Not very easy. But very rewarding. Again, one of my primed jerkbaits got caught during a testrun so I'll be making some white jerkbaits in the near future aswell. For now I'm just building jerkbaits for myself but with the decall principle it is a lot easier to build a jerkbait in series. So, you never know what the furture brings.

And furthermore I want to build some realistic Bass imitaions aswell.
